What is Switchy?
Switchy is an all-in-one link management and engagement platform founded by Geoffroy d’Halluin, along with a team of developers and designers in 2018.
It helps you shorten, customize, and re-target your links, along with providing a variety of other features aimed at improving engagements and conversion rates.
What does Switchy do?
Switchy is a feature-packed platform that essentially allows you to:
- Shorten your links
- Design a smart page to compile your services
- Track and re-target your audience
- Display detailed link analytics reports
The pricing plans of Switchy start from $47/month, where you can create unlimited links and pixels, along with 10k clicks and 2 custom domains.
If you purchase the same plan for a year, you can get it for $39/month with the first two months free!
As of now, the AppSumo deal is live, where you can get lifetime access to Switchy at unbelievably low prices! I have discussed it in-depth below. So, make sure you read till the end.
But first, let’s talk about its exciting features.
Switchy Review Video
If you are a video person, you can watch my video review of Switchy here. (It’s in Hindi with English subtitles)
Switchy User Interface
I found the user interface of Switchy to be quite clean and easy to use. Equipped with a modern design and colors, it also looks quite organized and beginner friendly.
The first step is to create a workspace for yourself. Once you do that, you can create customized links, add them to different folders and access a variety of Settings from the left panel.
On the bottom right is a helpful chat button to get your queries resolved. You can simply click on the ‘Create a new link’ button to get started!
To some users, the interface might seem a little crowded with dozens of features, but overall I really enjoyed using it.
1. Link Shortening
Long URLs might have a negative impact on your website. Along with being hard to memorize, they are also bad from the SEO point.
With Switchy, you can ‘switch the URL’ of a link and create shortened links for your blogs, articles, affiliate products, etc.
It lets you add your own domain name or choose from two generic domain URLs of Switchy if you don’t have your own domain.
2. Link Customisation
Here, you can customize your links to suit a specific platform. For example, before sharing your blog article on your Facebook feed, you can customize how it appears to your viewers. Let’s see how you can do that.
Add Custom Meta Data
Metadata includes the link’s title and description. You can use a completely different title and description according to the platform where you’re sharing your link.
Use Stock Images and GIFs
You can replace the featured image of your link. Switchy integrates the image libraries of Pexels, Pixabay, and Unsplash so you can choose from millions of images.
If you want to use GIFs instead, they also have the Giphy and Tenor libraries!
Download QR Code
Another interesting feature is that you can even get a QR code for your customized links. So, users can simply scan the QR code with their mobiles and reach the destination.
Retargeting is a marketing technique of targeting users who previously interacted with your links and serving them ads on their social media or external websites.
Switchy lets you target your audience through the following features.
Switchy offers Pixel integrations for 14 different platforms including Facebook, Quora, Linkedin, Twitter, Google Ads, Tiktok, etc.
Through this, you can effectively track users who clicked on your campaigns across different social media platforms and serve them with personalized ads and promotional content.
Advertising and Marketing professionals would really like this feature.
UTM Tags are short snippets of code that are added at the end of a URL that help in identifying where a user is coming from. They play a significant role in analytics.
Switchy lets you add a name to your UTM Campaign, and specify the Medium, Source, Term, and Content. These tags can help you analyse exactly which platform the clicks on your links are coming from!
4. Link Analytics
Link analytics are a great way to keep track of how your links are performing and which of them are converting the most customers.
You get link filters, so you can view detailed metrics for the present day, week, month, or all time statistics.
It shows you real-time data for the number of clicks, users, referrers, countries, devices, UTM tags, browsers, OS, and Re-targeting pixels as beautifully designed graphs.
5. Embed Widget
Using the Embed Widget, you can embed your own links within other websites.
This is a great way to provide valuable content to your audiences and also market your own products, services, etc. It can help with growing your customer base.
Link Cloaking refers to hiding a specific URL and displaying your own domain URL in its place.
Before you start wondering, let me assure you that there is nothing wrong with this practice!
All the traffic goes to the original URL, but it appears as if they are clicking on our website. When you embed a specific widget, link cloaking is switched on automatically.
6. A/B Testing
The A/B testing feature, also called the Link Rotator, enables you to assign two different web pages to the same URL.
You can also set the percentage of traffic forwarded to those links. This is helpful for testing out which one performs better.
For example, if I have two articles written on the same topic for my website, I can forward 50% traffic to each, and check which one is performing better.
7. Switchy Advanced QR Code Builder
Switchy has recently launched its brand new QR Code Builder, which lets you convert your links into QR codes within minutes! All you need to do is select the link you wish to convert and click on the QR code option beside it.
You can customize your QR code in a variety of ways. Let’s look at them in depth.
Here, you can edit the shape color, shape style, corner color, and background color on your QR code. You can match it with your brand colors to maintain an overall consistency!
What I really liked was that you can also use color gradients on the QR code design. It looks really cool! If you have a brand logo or image, you can upload it to the center of your QR from under the Logo option.
The Templates tab holds a list of all your saved QR code designs.
If you need to use a specific QR code frequently, you can simply save it as a template for later use.
The Pre-defined tab has a library of ready-made QR code designs. You can take inspiration from them or use them directly with no modifications.
Finally, the finished QR code can be exported in the SVG or PNG formats. Users can scan them using their mobile phones to reach your links. In my opinion, this is a revolutionary feature and can be used in multiple fields like restaurants, online stores, business cards, etc.
8. Additional Features
You can organize your links in different folders for more convenience. For example, I have different folders for storing my links related to domains, hosting, cloud storage, VPN, password managers, etc.
You can add notes within your links. These are only for your convenience and won’t be shown on the actual links.
Deep linking is a technique that redirects a user clicking from a browser to a specific app.
For example, if a user clicks on a link to my YouTube video, instead of playing in the browser, you can get it to launch in the Youtube app on their mobile through deep linking.
There are 130+ integrations on Switchy covering categories like Travel, Social Media, Food, News, eCommerce, Health, Finance, etc.
Relevant hashtags can be targeted through your customized links.
If you have a wide audience base spanning different countries or regions, you can redirect your traffic to different URLs according to their location.
For example, if you are doing affiliate marketing for a product, you can display the .com link for the worldwide audience. Whereas, the Indian audiences can be redirected to the .in version of the same website!
If you are running some discounts or deals on your site for a limited time, Switchy lets you set link expiration dates. The link will stop working on the specified time and will be redirected to a URL of your choice.
Set a Favicon
Favicon is that tiny icon visible beside your web page in the browser window. You can upload your own icons to personalize any web page according to your brand.
If your audience belongs to Europe or California, you can enable the GDPR pop-up to inform them you are collecting their information for analytics.
Uptime is one of the most important yet ignored metrics to consider when going with a link shortening tool. If a service does not provide you with a good uptime in the first place, what’s even the benefit of shortening your URL?
I’ve been testing the uptime of Switchy’s website (hi.switchy.io) for the last 233 days.
The average uptime has been 99.83%, which is quite low. It should’ve been at least 99.9%, which is the standard uptime provided by all hosting platforms today!
I also checked one of my sub domains (go.kripeshadwani.com) connected with Switchy. Here, the uptime is 99.66%, which is again low and can be improved.
I’m actually losing revenue because of this low uptime. So, it’s time they work on improving this!
This feature has been recently integrated in Switchy. Smartpages is a landing page builder for mobile devices. It’s a drag-and-drop builder which is unbelievably easy to use!
You can either create your page from scratch or choose one from their library of 100+ beautifully designed templates.
Under Smartpages, you get five tabs to implement various functions.

Overall, the Smartpage feature is an excellent way of compiling links to all your content and services in one place and building more engagements.
Through these mini landing pages, you can effectively redirect your audience to your most important services.

Switchy complies with the European and Californian Privacy Regulations. So, you can display a privacy pop-up if your audiences are from these countries.
Cons of Switchy
Uptime can be Improved
The uptime of the Switchy sub-domains is quite low, which might mean less audience retention and ultimately less revenue! It is much better when used with a custom domain.
Average Link Analytics
The link analytics offered by Switchy could’ve been more detailed. I personally liked the analytics in LinkWhisper, a link building tool.
Blog Image Issues
If you enable RSS feed for your blogs in the Smartpage, it does not display the featured images at the moment. They should look into the technical issues and fix this soon.
Their Chat Support is quite slow at responding to queries. They take hours responding to simple queries, which is a little disappointing. I hope they work on speeding up their support process.
